Terms and Conditions
Fees: Service fees and duration of therapeutic sessions will be agreed upon before your first session. Payment is due in full, 72hrs in advance of the session. Payment can be made by cash, paypal or bank transfer. Please be aware that if using bank transfer, some payments can take 24 hours to clear. If payment has not been received by the time of your appointment, you will not be seen but may still be charged in accordance with the cancellation policy. A receipt can be issued to you when payment has been received.
Confidentiality: All of our interactions (conversations, emails, session details etc.) will remain strictly confidential, meaning that I will not share any personal information provided by you with anyone without your express consent – except as provided by law or unless there are safeguarding concerns, meaning that you have told me that you are a harm to yourself or someone else. In this case I would contact your doctor and any appropriate authorities. I am also required to undertake regular clinical supervision with a qualified professional, where I discuss my work in confidence. This is standard ethical practice that enables me to work with you and for you, to the best of my ability.
Governing Body: Please note that I am an accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society and as such am bound by the Society’s Code of Ethics as detailed at https://ncps.com/about-us/code-of-ethics
Notice: Counselling is not the practice of medicine or psychiatry. The counselling services provided are for educational and self-improvement purposes and are not intended for the diagnosis or treatment of any medical or psychological condition. If you have an ongoing medical illness, mental disability or mental illness, you should always consult with your GP or other relevant medical professional and obtain consent and approval for counselling.
Availability: You may feel free to contact me outside of our scheduled sessions by phone or by email if you have any urgent queries or questions or need to rearrange a session. I will do my best to return all phone calls and emails within 24-hours of receiving them (except when out of town or on holidays). However, if your queries are more reflections on your treatment or insights into its progress, I would encourage you to write these down and bring them along to our next allotted session for review together.
Commitments and Integrity: If I make a commitment to you, this commitment will be kept – in the way and time frame promised. If, in exceptional circumstances only, I am unable to keep a commitment, I will notify you of this as soon as I know of the need for change. I will deal with you at the highest standards of integrity, honesty, professionalism, and respect. I will let you know if at any point in time I feel that my involvement is not likely to make a positive difference in your life. By the same token, I expect you to keep any commitments made during our sessions, including ‘homework’ that I set. If at any point during our sessions, commitment or integrity is called into question and cannot be resolved, therapy will end.
Non-Judgment: I am not here to judge “right” or “wrong”. My position as counsellor is to help you achieve the goal you want. As there may be times when you will share information that may make you vulnerable, I assure you that I will treat your choices, disclosures and actions with respect.
Feedback: I give and ask for feedback as much as possible. Let me know when something is working for you, as well as when something is not. The earlier the better. If I ever do or say anything that upsets you or doesn’t feel right, please bring it to my attention so that we can resolve it as soon as possible. My objective is to have a professional relationship that is fully open, honest, real and trusting.
Cancellations: It is important for us to keep our appointments, for your benefit, as well as the benefit of my other clients. 48-hour notice is required to cancel an appointment; I reserve the right to charge the full fee for a session cancelled with less than 48-hours’ notice. If you are delayed for an appointment, please call me to let me know as soon as possible on 07519595393.
